Grand Trunk Double Hammock Review

DSC04129Let me start this out by saying that I was not a person who could get in and out of a hammock with much ease. I definitely couldn’t imagine sleeping in one before now. When Grand Trunk contacted me to review their double hammock (which I received for free, with no other monetary compensation – my opinions are my own) I thought, why not give owning a hammock a try and see why so many of my backpacking friends like them so much.

What happened was…I fell in love. I haven’t had a chance to sleep in it yet but I am looking forward to it and will let you know how that goes this spring (I am a very cold person so I don’t particularly care for winter camping). I may be a newbie to hammock-land but I know what I like and laying in this hammock has been a pleasure even with the normal shifting of two people in close quarters.

  • Can fit two people in it very easily #NSFW 😉
  • Light weight at 20 ounces (with carabiners incl.)
  • Quick set up
  • Easy to get in and out
  • Big and comfortable
  • Very portable (when it’s in the stuff sack, which is attached, it is smaller than a loaf of bread and you can hang it anywhere that allows hammocks)
  • You can use it for just lounging in your backyard, car camping or backpacking depending on which accessories you choose
  • Under $70 so it makes a great gift for an outdoor enthusiast (and you only have to worry about what color to get, no sizing necessary)

  • Heavier than my one man tent (But this is meant for two. My one man, single wall tent is 2lbs plus weight of Tyvek ground cover and stakes)
  • You need extra gear to make this backpacking ready (see the links below. You might also consider some mosquito netting for summer and different weights of sleeping bag or pad depending on which season you are camping with this hammock)

I will be taking it out on a trip in the spring and there will be a video and more info on camping in it. So don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel. My phone ate my summer pictures so you’ll have to settle for some impromptu winter shots, which still make the lightweight, sturdy parachute fabric shine.

It makes a great last minute gift for any outdoor enthusiast too. Here’s the links…

Grand Trunk Double Hammock – 20 oz

Rain Fly (necessary for backpacking or camping in questionable weather) – 20 oz

Tree Slings (to take care of the trees we love so much) – 5.6 oz
